I think about Psalm 119, 162. It says, I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil.

There is spoil. There's treasure waiting for you and me every day in God's word, not just so that we know it and understand it,

but so that we know God and walk in love relationship with God.

That's why I wrote this book to help you toward that end.

Josea chapter 13, verse 9.

He destroys you, O Israel, for you are against me, against your helper.

Oh, just let that indictment soak in.

God speaking to his people saying that you are experiencing destruction. Why? For you are against God, against your helper. So just think about this. God,

the omnipotent, all-powerful, omnibenevolent, all good,

all-wise, all-loving God wants to be your helper is what God is saying to his people here in

Hosea 13, and you're against God who wants to help you.

Now, bring that indictment into your life and my life, to think of the foolishness of how you and I

are prone to be against God, to go against God as if we know better than God what is

best for our lives, or we know better than God what is best for the world.

Get the picture for every one of us today to see God the omnipotent, omnibenevolent, all powerful, all loving, all good,

all wise, God over all wants to help you experience life today, wants to help me experience life

to the full today. He wants to help us. He's our helper. The fact that God calls himself, our helper is

astounding. What's more astounding than that, though, is that we are prone to refuse him as our helper.

We're prone to go against God and his gracious merciful help in our lives. So let's not do that in any way today.
