Revelation chapter 9 verses 20 and 21.

The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands, nor give up

worshipping demons, and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which

cannot see or hear or walk, nor do they repent of their murders, of their

sorcery, or their sexual immorality, or their thefts.

Wow, these two verses, they come at the very end of revelation chapter 9 and we obviously don't have time and

just a couple minutes here to dive into all the various interpretations of

revelation and the different themes in revelation but in chapter 9 you see just all

kinds of just terrifying pictures of the holy judgment of God and

plagues and people experiencing death and the punishment of sin.

It's happening in such graphic imagery.

And then you get to verse 20 and it says,

the people who were not killed by these planks still did not repent of the works of their hands.

They still didn't turn from sin. They still kept worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood.

Which cannot see or hear a walk, verse 20 says, and they didn't turn from their sin and all these different ways,

murdering, sorcery, sexual immorality, deaths.

And as I read these verses, I just think

we need God's grace to open our eyes because left to ourselves we will give ourselves

over continually to sin even when it's costly in our lives, even when it wreaks havoc

in people's lives around us.

Just look around the world, do we have enough evidence that sin leads to horrible places, terrifying consequences that sin leads to destruction, that sin leads to destruction,
