Summary

Guys I do PREACHING TO THE CHOIR every Sunday. If you like these Sunday episodes let me know in comments and I'll keep posting them here and on Spotify. Thank you! Happy Sunday!

Mike GloverResilience is faith

1. Trust God’s Timing Even When You Don’t Understand

Lesson: God’s plan often unfolds in ways we can’t see or understand in the moment. Faith means trusting that He is working behind the scenes even in delays, detours, and suffering.

Scripture:“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

— Jeremiah 29:11

Takeaway: When life feels out of control, remember that God’s plan is not to break you, but to build you. Stay rooted in the knowledge that He sees the bigger picture.

2. Keep Your Eyes on Jesus, Not the Storm

Lesson: When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we stay steady no matter how chaotic the world around us becomes.

Scripture:“Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’”

— Matthew 14:29–30

Takeaway: Fear creeps in when we shift our focus from Christ to our circumstances. Keep your eyes on Him. That’s how you walk through storms without sinking.

3. Stay the Course Through Trials

Lesson: Trials test and refine our faith. Endurance through difficulty produces spiritual maturity and keeps us aligned with God’s will.

Scripture:“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

— James 1:2–3

Takeaway: Hard times are not the end they’re the preparation. God uses pressure to refine, not to destroy. Stay faithful through the fire.

Morning guys, welcome to preaching to the choir. If you're watching this for the first time on

0:06.7

Substack, I've been doing this for months on Patreon, but I'm going to start cross-pollinating this every Sunday to both platforms.

0:16.3

I started this concept of unshaken to create a community of followers like myself who are just trying to figure it out.

0:26.6

There's no catches, no tide, no commitment requirement, no cost in this conversation.

0:34.6

What I've found is this is very impactful for me, a great benefit for me as a Christian,

0:41.8

to talk about the things that I'm weekly going through that might help you evolve in your own faith.

0:49.8

This week's topic of conversation is finding resilience in your faith, which for me is hard to do.

0:58.8

I'm a bad Christian. I'm a really poor Christian. Now, I work at it. I'm vigilant that I'm not

1:08.5

very good at it, but it's a constant struggle for me. I've been immersed

1:14.2

in sin my entire life. I've been a womanizer prior to commitments. I've been, I think things that

1:23.5

normal people don't think because of my background, which isn't an excuse leaning forward.

1:30.4

And so a lot of the ways we become closely or more closely connected with God in our faith

1:37.4

is by developing good habits and routines.

1:41.9

When I pick up a phone, for example, when I had social media on it, I would instantly

1:47.1

go to Instagram and look for affirmation, compare and contrast myself to others, womanized by

1:55.3

looking at women on a nap, death scrolling to the ends of the internet. For what? Well, it's because this reptile

2:05.5

sinner in our brains just wants to get primal. And that's not an excuse. The reality is, if you're like

2:14.4

me as a Christian, you want to be a good person. But you just don't want to say it.

2:19.3

You want to be it. I've known lots of people in my life, former relationships, former best friends

2:27.0

that claim to be Christian people. And their actions didn't speak louder than their words. Because all their

2:38.8

virtue signaling tells me something that's deeper and potentially darker about their circumstance.

2:46.4

And then when you call them out, they get offended. But I don't want to call you out and for you to be offended because I share in this grievance.
