Faith is a funny thing. We can claim to have it, but do we really, in fact, have real living,

active faith? And it's from time to time you find yourself in life being tested. Do I really have

faith? This is where the rubber meets the road. You

know, you'll go through something in life where you have to realize, boy, this is where I either

I'm going to have faith, the Lord knows what he's doing, or I'm going to freak out. To faith or

to freaking out? Which one? Well, I remember reading about a story from the 1850s. There was a guy by the name of Charles

Blondin, and he was a tightrope walker back in the old days. He started actually in the circus

and got famous and would do solo acts and stuff like that. But one of his most famous tightrope

walks came in 1859 where he walked over

the Niagara Falls on his type rope. He took his pole, went to one side over the falls, and then

came back. And the crowd went wild. Blondin, the magnificent, the type rope walker. But when he got back,

he said, how many guys think I can do it without a pole? And they're like, yeah, you can do it.

And so he went across the rope, the cable there without a, without a pole. And the people cheered

when he got back. And he said, how many of you think I

can do it without a pole running? Yeah, they all freaked out. It got behind Blondon and got all excited.

And he ran across there and back. And then he said, how many of you think I can do it while dancing?

Yeah, they went crazy. And Blondon danced as he did a little two-step across the whole cable

there and back. The crowd cheered. Then he said, how many of you think I can do it while carrying

another person? Yeah, they all cried and they were all excited. And then he said, who's my first

volunteer? And you could hear nothing but crickets.

No roar of the crowd, no volunteer.
