James chapter 2, verse 17.

So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

And that is the resounding message of James chapter 2.

Faith works.

Like the basis of our salvation is not our good works before God.

The basis of our salvation is Jesus' work on our behalf, on the cross,

or saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

And this faith in Jesus leads to work with Jesus in Jesus for Jesus to the glory of Jesus.

Faith that doesn't have work flowing from it is not true faith.

And that's the message of James chapter 2.

So let's pause then today and just think about what are the works that are flowing from our faith today?

And how can we grow in greater works flowing from deeper faith?

And specifically in James 2, there's a picture of reaching out to people in need,

a brother or sister who comes to you and who's hungry or cold.

And you say, go, I wish you well, keep warm and well fed,

but do nothing about their physical needs.

What good is that?

In the same way, faith by itself, James 217, if it doesn't have works, is dead.

Like we are surrounded by people in need.

Right around us, far from us, let's live out a faith that works on behalf of others in need.
