Would you turn with me to Romans chapter 4? We're going to do something we have not done thus far in our study of the Book of Romans we are about

to read and consider the entire chapter at once.

The reason why we're going to do that is the same reason why all my commentaries did it.

I did not have one.

I'm not saying they're not out there, but none of mine that I studied in preparation for

today's lesson took it apart.

The reason is because it is very cohesive in its thinking. It may be

somewhat long where we'd rather have considered seven or eight verses at the

time but the cohesive nature of the chapter really

enforces that it is best seen as one whole. So we're going to read all the way

through it. I'm going to narrate some as we go because there are some

things I'd have you know if you don't already that are not necessarily points in our

lesson. We're just going to have to hit on as we go. I want you to look with me

first of all Romans 4 verse 1 what then shall we say that Abraham our

forefather discovered in this matter? Now what matter is this I want you to glance back for a moment to

321 chapter 3 verse 21 as Paul says but now a righteousness from God

apart from the law has been made known to which the law and the prophets

testify.

So God is about to express through his word that he has been consistent in both Old Testament and knew about what is being

taught by the Apostle Paul at this moment that when it all comes down we are not
