Summary

It's crazy how a couple minutes on social media in the morning can impact the rest of our day. Oftentimes we view a post from across the world that provokes an emotion of fear, anxiety, or depression into our own world. This, then, effects the way we communicate with our loved ones.



In this 5 minute episode Josh and Christi encourage you to pay attention to the things that are impacting your attitude. They suggest creating an emotion log of instances that trigger negativity, as well as instances that bring you life. This practice provides awareness of what needs to be eliminated and what needs to be implemented. It's the little changes that order your day in a way that allows you to show up for your family.

You know, so often our mood and our attitude can affect everyone in the home,

how we show up to our spouse, how we show up for our kids. And oftentimes what happens is,

is there small little things that we do like being on our phones? I'm going to use that as an

example. How often, and I find this for myself, am I on my phone and I get

off of my phone, whether it was looking at social media, whether it was watching news, whatever it was,

and I have a sense of fear or anxiety or just a gloomy attitude towards the world around me,

that I take that then and I show up differently for my kids and for my wife

because my mind went somewhere else that it never needed to or wasn't supposed to because I saw

something on another side of the world that has nothing to do with me and yet I brought it into my

world. And we have to

pay attention to those little things that are sucking the joy of our salvation out of us that have

nothing to do with us or that we have no business being in to begin with. So do an emotion log

of the things that are anxiety provoking, things that are causing depression

in your life or giving you a depressed mood, things that are really just angering you and

you're showing up in anger. Pay attention to those things and start to eliminate this week

on a daily basis. Just find one thing and eliminate it.

In other words, if it's the news, get off the news app
