This week, we're going to review overachieving pitching staffs here on the Rot Roto Wire fantasy baseball podcast. Jeff Erickson here with Fred Zinky.

And last week, we teased this. We talked about overachieving hitting, hitting lineups this week.

We're going to talk about overachieving pitching staffs and maybe fade these ones a little bit there.

Fred, welcome. Before we do that, though, a couple news items.

Starting out, Bryce Harper got plunked by a Spencer Strider fastball right on the right elbow, left the game immediately. I know x-rays are negative. X-rays aren't everything. What have you seen from Strider? I mean, from, excuse me, from Harper. We can talk strider too while we're at it. But what did you think about, you know, the Harper injury? Any, any hot takes from that? No, not really. I mean, I guess x-rays are negative, so we'll hope that it just turns out to be a bruise. It's poor timing for Harper owners because Harper's been fine this year, but not great, but he's been really good lately. So when it's 10 games, past 10 games leading in tonight, he had hit 390 with a 996 OPS so it was really just heating up um i think you and

Scott talked about him a little bit on and when you're talking about philly's lineup on sunday night

like this year overall pretty mad like the eight steals are a big help but eight homers yeah not great

and 267 batting average so he could be a lot better than that and like I said he was

heating up so hopefully this elbow injury it like I said is just a bruise and he's back pretty soon

but like you said x-rays are negative the first day doesn't always tell the full tail hopefully in

this case it did and strider uh meh not great tonight didn't get through five innings

only gave up one run but four walks walks. Yeah. Um, yeah, it's just, just, uh, he just hasn't totally like in the two starts since he came back, like hasn't really found his groove yet. It's almost like he's mortal and needs time to ramp up and get his command, just like any other pitcher coming back from Tommy John surgery. Yeah, he's done a little bit of everything. Like the first start against Washington gave him to any runs, too many hits, a home run. That start was pretty poor, but at least he wasn't walking a lot of guys. But then tonight, tonight he was a little better, like seven strikeouts. That's more strider, like, it's just the four walks. Yeah. We're a problem. But out the four walks, he probably goes, you know, if that's one walk or something, he probably goes another inning and maybe we're having a different story. Yeah. Uncle Ted makes a good point. Eight homers eight stolen bases. That's close to a 30 case for Harper if he stays healthy obviously

Maybe you're expecting more power I might have expected a little bit more power but the stolen

bases he's already had more stolen bases than all last year and you're getting it from a first

basement so yeah the steals are good it's just the batting averages is lowest in about five years and

And he's played 53 games so that eight homers is actually more like

like a 22 homer pace 23 homer pace so me like it could be like it could be better like I said he hasn't

been bad but he could be better yeah exactly exactly uh Nick Kurtz went on the aisle with a hit

pointer for the athletics yeah all politics are local this local. This hurts me. I picked him up.

Kurtz is coming off his best week. Got hurt Saturday night, but had four homers in the week, had nine RBI. I think he had five walks over the course of the week. He was really starting to see the ball a little bit better. You're starting to see how he could rake. This shuts down that momentum that momentum. That's the thing I always worry about

when a prospect finally starts to show it. You get something like that that just interrupts it. Then he has to kind of ramp back up. We don't know how long he's going to be out yet, but this is a, this is a tough one for me. Yeah, for sure. I mean, take everything I said about Harper and put it on a bigger scale, right? Like Kurtz was hitting 208, uh, eight days ago and then, and then had
