Hey, this is Beth.

Listen, what we live for at Living Proof is to serve people, the Word of God.

We base our ministry on Hebrews 412 that tells us that the Word is alive and active.

We pray this message is going to serve you in some way today and that God

is going to speak through it. Thank you so much for giving us this privilege. That first point

was he tempts us to feel alone and isolated. The second one, and I'm just making two this morning,

he tempts us to feel superior. This is going to be a big trap for any one of us that truly has a desire to be set

apart and passionate for truth. If you want to know one of the places where you and I are

going to be most vulnerable to temptation, if we're really serious about this thing, it's going to be the temptation to feel

superior to people who are not doing the same thing. Is that fair to say? Because I'm telling you,

if the enemy can't get us over here, he's going to get us here, if he possibly can. This one is

huge for people who really do study the scriptures.

And if you and I are not careful in our pursuit of the knowledge of God's Word,

that is going to be one of the biggest temptations we have is thinking.

We are superior sitting in the first class section of our Bible

studies and our churches. And I'm going to tell you something. Maybe this is not appropriate.

I've just gotten through studying the book of Daniel. And it occurred to me how God can snap a mind that is proud.

And we think somehow we've arrived.

I'm just thinking of King Nebuchadnezzar.

God can deal with us.

You and I got to somehow live out this self-apartness without becoming Pharisees because it is what Christ was most resistant to.

Let us not become his worst nightmare in our pursuit of truth.
