Summary

The Anfield Wrap brings you eyewitness accounts of the 2001 FA Cup final between Liverpool and Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. This is the third in our series of free audio documentaries in which we travel back in time to tell the story of significant days in the history of Liverpool FC, by tracking down the people who made them happen. This latest game we look back on is one which is often attributed to one man’s efforts alone, though there were plenty of ups and downs along the way under the beaming hot sun in South Wales. Telling the story of that day are former Liverpool FC players Sander Westerveld, Stephane Henchoz, Jamie Carragher, Emile Heskey, Gary McAllister, Patrik Berger and (of course) Michael Owen; and the assistant manager at the time, Phil Thompson. We also speak to the referee on the day, Steve Dunn; journalists Chris Bascombe, Oliver Kay, Amy Lawrence and Clive Tyldesley; and supporters Gareth Roberts, Kevin Walsh and Dan Morgan. 0:47.3	you had the semi-finals of the Lee Cup coming up, two legs. You know they're going to be important. You have then
0:56.7	got the UEFA Cup which is now gathering importance and getting to the major stage of it.
1:05.0	So you're looking and people are talking and you can't get away from that.

1:11.0	You take one of the trophies, would you take a couple of them
1:14.8	and it was focus focus on each game let's see where we get and as it got closer you're like that you are you
1:25.4	you're having to keep your mind you well what would you accept Champions League
1:30.3	football because it wasn't just the cups it was Champions League football you had to finish in the top three back in 2001 not the
1:37.6	top four as we got now so that was massive so to finish in the top three of all
1:42.3	those teams was going to be huge for the club back in the big time.
1:46.5	In 2001, Chris Baskin was chief LFC reporter for the Liverpool Echo, whilst Ollie Kay was spending his first season as Northwest reporter for the Times.
1:55.5	Nearly in the season, I don't think the form was that great, I think it was quite erratic really,
