Summary

We look ahead to the 2025 Formula 1 season in our special season preview edition of The Race F1 Podcast.

Scott Mitchell-Malm and Jon Noble join Edd Straw to run through the whole field and set the scene for this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix and beyond.

Lando Norris and McLaren’s status as title favourites is discussed, along with the role Oscar Piastri could have to play. We also ask if Red Bull has produced the car it needs to for Max Verstappen to win a fifth consecutive world championship.

Lewis Hamilton’s prospects with Ferrari, and up against Charles Leclerc, are also delved into along with the chances of his old team, Mercedes, emerging as a contender with George Russell..

We also take a look at midfield standouts Alpine and Williams, attempt to work out where Haas really stands, and look at the prospects of Racing Bulls.

And with Aston Martin and, in particular, Sauber, having poor pre-seasons, we ask if all is lost for them in 2025.
