Now, a lot of people, including myself, just cast it aside, said, you know what? No, this isn't going to happen. Red Bull, you know, they've got tied back in.

There's lots of reasons as to why Alex Alvin will stay. He's come through the ranks. He had a few podiums.

But then just day by day, week by week, it just seemed like Sergio had a bit more of a chance. Didn't he, Tommy, until he definitely had a chance because he signed the contract?

Yeah, I think after every podcast, even though we tried to avoid it by the end of it, it still was just hanging over.

And I guess a top team, having a seat free is always such an interesting sort of talking point.

And the fact that Red Bull were looking outside their junior program for the first time in ages, the its mark webber in 2007 was the last time they didn't sort of go with someone in their own stable.
