Now, we'll start with some news that will upset the tin

foil hatters and those getting paid off by the oil industry who say, oh, you can't have electric

vehicles because there's no lithium to make the batteries with. Well, in a groundbreaking discovery,

scientists have pinpointed the world's most substantial lithium

reserve. It's inside the McDermott Caldera, an extinct volcano, and it straddles the Nevada-Oregon

border. It's a deposit estimated at a staggering 120 million tons, and it dwarfs the previous

record holder, Bolivia's salt flats by 12-fold,

previously thought to be the world's biggest reserve of lithium. As global demand for lithium

is projected to reach one million metric tons by 2040, this new find in America could prove

to be pivotal. Mining could start as early as 2026.
