2:25 thats like a core memory for me was on tour alan and i loved gambling.

2:56 tour life is crazy so thank you for joining the podcast. Of course. It’s insane.

3:39 we started mid january and were done mid may, so its five months on a bus. Why? Why that long?

4:04 once the show hits im the happiest person ever. I love hearing the audiences, I love meeting the fans.

4:52 its exhausting but i am so snatched right now. Like i am looking in the mirror and im like girl you may be tired but you look so good.

5:55 how old are you? 25. You little baby with already so much wisdom and knowledge.

6:11 oh you know i f watch this shit.

6:30 some of the stuff that happens on that show isn’t far fetched from what i’ve experienced growing up in utah.

7:00 i didn’t know that you and jojo siwa were that tight before any of this. What age did you come out and why does jojo siwa have a big part of that?

8:20 on that tour it was the rainbow hair the glitter she did my makeup every single day every single day it was so hard for me.

8:36 she basically laid out my inner homophobia and helped me get thru it. So when i did come out it was so scary but she had my back. I’ll never forget that act of kindness of service that she did for me.

9:34 the thing i was afraid of losing was the people i cared about. Even when my parent were starting to find out i was gay, they were very like no this is not okay. If you do this this is the path that you’ll go down.

10:22 really coming out, it was the hardest, easiest thing i ever did. My finger was shaking when i hit send on that post. Days went by and everyone still loves me the same.

13:24 i also love that you celebrate your pride birthday every year now.

14:10 do you think the hardest part is external judgment or the internal one?

14:34 you want to come out in an environment that you feel youll be accepted in, and i already had that. I had someone who was a pop star, iconic diva, who had my back, not everyone has that.

15:13 utah is a different world. I want to go back to teen Ezra, what would you do to present a version of yourself to fit in?

16:39 you grew up dancing too like you always were a dancer? Was dance for you an escape or was it just another place you felt like you had to prove yourself?

17:09 i would say at the studio i grew up at they were very adamant about men dancing like men, so whenever i would dance a little feminine they would call me out on it.

17:31 looking back it was traumatic for me to hear but also really good for me to hear at the time.

17:41 so what was your take when there was two women when JoJo was on, and what would you think about two men being on the show? I would love it.

18:14 to me, watching jojo’s season was so refreshing because it was something different. Also jenna was such a perfect pro for that.

18:45 who would be your dream guest if they did have two male partners and you got to be with him? And why is it zac efron? I think it would have to be someone from heated rivalry. Either of them.

19:21 why did i not think of that?

20:21 Tonal

21:39 i feel like people love hearing about DWTS behind the scenes

23:49 i said id love to do a tiktok with you where its something around the fact that you’re the ferrari, her ass is so humble, she goes I don’t know if i could put myself out there like that.

24:48 i obviously need to talk to you about people like anna delvey.

25:48 i was like this girl is fierce, i love the fact that she was my first partner. It really was such an iconic first partner for me.

26:44 with anna it was a lot of cards that were against me.

26:55 i just knew i have an opportunity to work with someone who’s never danced before. And i always feel like a pro on the show your job is to give them the best experience ever but kinda change their life through dance.

27:50 when you said i just did my job i said that part.

29:40 every time i get snappy or someone gets snappy with me we’ll always have that adult conversation after and i feel like it makes us stronger.

30:33 explain the animal game, you make the noises?

32:12 how did they prank you?

32:51 what has surprised you the most about being a pro that people wouldn’t know. How much you do. The amount of hats you where. Oh my gosh.

34:40 You make it all the way to the finale, your freestyle gets called one of the best in decades, which i totally agree.

35:00 did that season feel different for you?

36:20 what was the dynamic like early on?

37:15 Olympian gymnasts are a different breed of beasts.

38:38 and then you got matching tattoos which is on brand for you now.

38:48 were people spreading rumors about you two? Oh you know me. You started the rumor didn’t you?

39:39 we secretly got married and it’s affecting her gymnastics performance.

41:28 your tiktok lives, you have built a massive online fanbase.

43:48 Apartments.com

45:03 so it happened when jenna kissed me.

45:55 I’m collecting kisses like infinity stones and i have to be able to kiss the whole cast on stage by the end of tour or else i did not accomplish this tour.

46:26 who’s most likely to cry in rehearsal? I would say emma because she’s very empathetic.

47:44 okay whos the most competitive? Oooooo Oh who isn’t?

48:45 who is most likely to forget the choreography.

49:28 who is the best dressed off camera?

50:07 okay secretly who’s the funniest? Brandon.

50:55 besides you, future mirror ball winner?

That's the only favorite I'm going to ever ask, okay? It truly means the world to me. Thank you. Now let's get into it. Hey, everybody. Welcome to Off the Vine. I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow. I'm so excited. I get so hyped anytime I get to talk to anyone from Dancing with the Stars. And I can't believe I haven't had Ezra on the podcast yet. But everybody knows Ezra from TikTok.

0:55.2

He was a dancer for Jojo Siwa.

0:56.8

And now he's one of the pros on dancing with the stars. And he made it on his second year of being a pro. He made it all the way to the end with Olympic gymnast, Jordan Childs, plays third and had what Carrie Annabba said was one of the best freestyles she's seen in 20 years. I tried to not take that

1:12.1

personally, but it was iconic. In this episode, we talked about his journey to becoming a pro. We talked

1:18.1

about what it actually takes to earn that role behind the scenes, what it's like going from being

1:21.8

eliminated early in his first season to making it to the end. And we also talk about something

1:26.2

obviously much deeper, his coming out journey, the role that JoJo Siwa played in his journey and helped him step into his truth, which is always amazing, what it was like growing up in Utah and not feeling fully able to be yourself and then how free it must feel after to be able to just be living your truth, which he is obviously doing. So Ezra is honest.

1:44.8

I feel like he's self-aware. He's so sweet and someone who's just very much in the middle of his story. I can't wait to see where he is like five, 10 years from now. So let's get into it. Ezra, welcome to the podcast. Where in the world are you right now? I'm in National Harbor. Do you have you performed here on tour?

2:00.1

I don't remember.

2:00.8

I went to like 70 different cities.

2:02.8

I don't remember.

2:18.7

I went to like 70 different cities. I don't remember where I went or the name of, like that does not sound familiar to me. It was the MGM Hotel. Oh, yes, I did. Yes, so I'm there now. So I love this hotel. It's very nice. Oh, are you an Alan gambling? I miss gambling with Alan. T. I don't gamble.

2:19.6

I do not.

2:53.9

But he's so good at it. He's so good. He's tapped in. And it's actually really cute seeing him because he talks about it all the time. And I feel like whenever he talks about it, I'm just like, yeah, whatever, like just straight guy stuff. But when he actually gambles him like this is kind of cute. he actually gets very into it. That's like a core memory for me was on tour. Alan and I loved gambling. And he I was like, same thing. I was like, sure, he's probably as good as I am, which I just wing it all the time. But he was so strategic. And he won so much money on a slot machine. And what I really liked is he took everyone out for dinner and paid for it because of that. Oh.

3:05.0

Oh. That's nice. Oh. It was nice. I'm going to tell him that so he can do it for us. Okay. Yeah. If he wins again, he probably won't tell you because he was like, shit, I have to do the right thing. now he's just going to keep it to himself.
