Hey, today we are starting a new series titled Eyes Wide Open. And in the series,

we're going to be studying the book of Second Peter together. If you got your Bible, go

ahead, get that out right now. Today, we're going to be going through the first 11 verses of

2 Peter together. And before we begin reading, let's learn about what we are going to read

together some stuff for your notes number one second peter is a letter and this letter sits

within scripture in the new testament now i know we have a lot of people here who are newer to the

bible and that's great so glad that are here, and we want to help you

understand your Bible better. So, 2 Peter is a letter. It sits in the New Testament of

Scripture, which means it's closer to the back of your Bible than the front of your Bible. Specifically,

2nd Peter is a letter that was written after Jesus died on the cross and after Jesus came back to life.

Years after Jesus came back to life actually. We think Second Peter was written between 65 and 68 AD

and we'll lob this softball up for you. Hopefully you get it. Second Peter was written by a dude named.

Oh let's go church. Y'all came to play. We're good. All right, here we go. So yeah, 2nd Peter is a letter written by a dude named Peter. Now, why is Peter writing this letter? After all, we just got done studying the letter of 1st Peter together as a church. For the last five or six weeks, we were studying this letter.

And in this letter, in first Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter is writing a letter

of encouragement to the persecuted church, to the scattered church in modern day Turkey.

And he's writing this letter to encourage them.
