Summary

When Colten Moore and his older brother, Caleb, competed for the first time in the 2010 X Games, they made a lasting impression. Specializing in freestyle and trick snowmobiling, the Texas brothers showed they were fearless, fierce and incredibly close to each other. They quickly became top athletes in the sport and were counting on taking home the gold and silver in 2013—although they argued over which brother would take the top spot. But their careers took a tragic turn during that competition: Both brothers crashed during their runs, and Caleb passed away a few days later as a result of his injuries. Colten has continued to compete and is using his experiences to encourage and inspire others. In 2016, he released his autobiography, Chasing the Sky, which tells his story of loss, resilience and the importance of family bonds.

Well, you know, there's so many things that is interesting about what you've accomplished. And, you know, you're in Texas. So I understand how you got started with ATVs and quads, but Texas is not the place you think of when you think of snowmobiles. So can you tell us how you got started with ATVs and quads, but Texas is not the place you think of when you think

of snowmobiles. So can you tell us how you got into that sport to begin with? Yeah, I mean,

1:01.4

that's what everyone always wants to know is how in the world did we get into that because people in

1:06.9

Texas don't even know what snowvills are. But we don't even know what snow bills are. We don't even know what snow is.

1:12.6

Yeah, exactly.

1:14.3

But we used to ride, you know, ATVs, obviously, and do the same thing, freestyle, tricks

1:18.7

and everything.

1:19.9

And, you know, we were just watching Winter X games one year, and we were watching the guys

1:24.0

ride and all the tricks they were doing.

1:26.2

And it was me and my parents and my brother sitting there watching. And, you know, my dad and my brother were like, oh, we do all the same tricks they're doing there. It's like, why don't we give that a try? And I was younger and I had just learned how to flip an ATV and I was kind of sitting there like oh gosh I just learned it on the ATV now we got to

1:45.1

flip but I ended up ended up players with sponsoring us and they make both ATVs and snow bills so we

1:53.3

called them and asked them like hey can we get some snow bills and they were like what do you need

1:59.1

snow goals for in Texas?

2:02.2

Like, are you insane?
