President Trump opens the door to faster research on psychedelics and potential approval of

treatments with an executive order focused in part on one substance in particular, Ibegain,

which has helped some people to overcome opioid addiction

in addition to treating mental health issues. But U.S. research on several psychedelics, including

psilocybin from so-called magic mushrooms, has faced restrictions because they're in the same

federal class of drugs as heroin. Opponents call psychedelics dangerous. But some veterans say these kinds of treatments

have already saved lives, including Matthew Wiz Buckley. The decorated Navy fighter pilot and

top gun graduate is founder of the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping

veterans heal through psychedelic therapies. He has had Ibegain treatment in Mexico, where it's legal,

and was among the veterans in the Oval Office

for the recent signing of that Trump executive order.

We talked about what he hopes it will do,

what Ibegain did for him, and the opposition.
