The race is on. There will be an Aston Martin team on the Formula One grid for the first time in over 60 years in 2021, thanks to news that Lawrence Stroll has acquired a stake in the car manufacturer. But in this first

edition of the Race F1 podcast Extra, where we tackle the big news stories as they emerge, we ask

what this means for racing points ambitions and for Formula One. I'm your host, Ed Strawer, and my

it's always seismic news, isn't it? Yeah, it is, especially when it's Ashton Martin, which is such a,

such a famous brand and a manufacturer that's got so much prestige and history around it, but not in Formula One.

I think it's what five starts for Aston Martin across the 59 and 60 seasons.

So for all of their heritage and what we know about them as a roadcar brand and a racing brand,

they haven't had that success in F1, but as we're going to go into now, the hope

will be that that changes as a result of this deal. Can you just explain exactly what Lawrence Stroll

has bought into and the landscape behind this happening? Yeah, so as I guess we're becoming

accustomed with Lawrence Stroll, he's very, very good at putting together a consortium of well-connected and wealthy individuals.

So the Lawrence Stroll-led consortium will basically, the short version is there will be

investing at 182 million pounds into Aston Mine.
