Summary

Our interview with Patrick was so interesting, I just wanted to continue. So we've uploaded this bonus episode where we tap into some of his knowledge and insight. Make sure you listen to Part 1 first.

Watch both of these episodes on Youtube.

Patrick Dixon was thrust to the forefront of the worldwide AIDS pandemic in the 1980s, and suddenly found himself becoming a truth-telling and influential world authority on the subject. He founded ACET which has impacted millions of lives across the globe.

His life then pivoted to working as a futurist, which has involved speaking at Davos, and advising and equipping some of the biggest companies in the world to plan for the future. So he ‘lives in 2050 and tomorrow is the past’.

It was such an interesting and stirring interview that I had to draw it to a close and do a Part 2, which is available to watch on YouTube now, or available as a bonus episode on this channel in a few days time. You won’t want to miss it!

Okay, folks, so welcome to part two. I mean, goodness me, I just don't want to stop.

0:14.9

So Patrick, as I said at the end of that last session, I read Mustafa Silliman's The Coming Away for AI Power

0:23.1

and our future and it is, it just looks, you know, scary and things are moving so fast.

0:28.8

And a generation might, a new generation, well, we used to be what, 10, 15 years now.

0:32.4

It was it, is it a year? How fast are things changing? You've written how AI will change

0:37.3

your life.

0:38.5

You know, just teach us, go for it.

0:40.0

Okay, well, it was a fun and terrifying book to do, but it was both.

0:46.0

Okay.

0:47.2

And so how I tried to approach it was to make multiple chapters, large numbers of chapters,

0:56.5

24 chapters addressing different things from, you know, impact of AI on the workplace,

1:02.1

on, say, marketing, management, leadership, political life, cyber security, banking, you know, retail,

1:09.9

manufacturing. So you can turn to whatever section of

1:12.6

society you might be interested in and you could see how AI is likely to impact that.

1:19.5

What I found was as I started to write, the early chapters were the most upbeat and the

1:26.7

later chapters were the darkest. So the introduction was all about how AI

1:31.3

will change from what it is now to becoming fully conscious, autonomous, emotionally, self-aware,

1:39.8

and indeed perhaps spiritual. Yes. But then in the meantime, okay, then coming back to reality,

1:49.0

okay, but what about the next five years in, let's say, manufacturing or in politics or something

1:53.2

like that? And so then there are all these different chapters. And when you look at the first

1:57.5

chapter, because I'm a doctor, of course I went for health, you know, health, such an amazing thing when you have it, it's such an awful thing when

2:05.6

it goes wrong.
