We talked to Brett the other day, right before the latest book in his To Rescue the American Spirit series was released.

Teddy Roosevelt and the birth of an American superpower. Now, before we talked about the youngest president we ever had,

Brett and I talked about a few more current issues. Starting off with the government shut down,

now in its fourth week, with still no end in sight to the stalemate overfunding that Republicans and Democrats

blame on each other.

Now, he and I also discussed Russia's war in Ukraine.

At the time we sat down in the studio, a second Trump-Puton summit was still being planned.

A few days ago, the president canceled that, saying he didn't

want a waste of time meeting trying to get a ceasefire. Now, Brett was in Alaska for the first

summit with Russia's leader that did not lead to the end in fighting President Trump's been pushing

for, and we talked to Brett about that. So with the shutdown and Russia and the new book,

he and I went on and on going way past the time limit we have in our regular

rundown segment since we also make that podcast into a radio show

carried by our affiliates across the country.
