Indeed, we have offered zero for zero zero tariffs for industrial goods, as we have successfully done with many other trading partners.

Because Europe is always ready

for a good deal, so we keep it on the table.

But we are also prepared to respond through countermeasures and defend our interests.

That was the European Commission President, offering President Trump a zero-for-zero-zero tariff deal. And the EU Trade Commissioner

explained that this arrangement would apply to chemicals, pharmaceuticals, rubber plastic machinery,

and cars. And this offer comes just after Washington imposed a 20% import tariff on the EU last

week. Now, it's unclear if President Trump is going to agree to this,

to the ire of Elon Musk, of course, because he has a financial interest in working with the

EU, selling cars in the EU. So to the ire of Elon Musk, President Trump, it seems, is not

going to accept this deal because just yesterday, the Trump admin rejected a similar offer from Vietnam to reduce tariffs to zero.

As Trump trade advisor Peter DeVarro explained, Vietnam's offer was meaningless to the United States because of their non-tariff trade practices, meaning dumping intellectual property theft

and their value-added tax or VAT, all of which still disadvantage U.S. businesses, according to

the admin.

So Liberation Day, as we were told last week, is about confronting non-tariff barriers as well as
