Being consistent is typically what will get you somewhere every time. If you are only talented but not consistent then you'd have to rely on the talent to carry you. But what if you're not feeling up to performing on a given day? Well, the feeling could easily get in the way of you not showing up. This doesn't mean that you should never rest. However it does mean that if you make a decision to be consistent you are better positioning yourself to show up regardless of what happening.
