Friends, this is Morgan Snyder, in the studio with Alan Arnold and Bart Hanson.

And Bart, we were in some earlier conversation about podcasting and you had suggested this topic around the

category of contending with and moving through the idea of self-reproach and self-hatred.

And it's one of those topics that we talk about very regularly

as kind of an everyday reality of something that we're contending with in our culture.

But as I say it, we often don't see that as kind of normative of something that affects all people. Why did this topic present itself

and what was it behind it that you felt like you wanted to bring?

Yeah, Morgan, great question.

I think even in a broader context,

when you take the whole topic of hatred that's been a

pretty current thing with us here at ransom heart just seeing that in a worldview, hatred going ever which way, and I was struck by Proverbs

1012, it said hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all wrongs. And when talk about hatred I was just thinking about that and

that's really hatred in every direction and I think that applies to self-hatred that it stirs up discord and strife within our soul when we hate ourselves.

So as I thought about that, I kind of went to the Proverbs

and I found that scripture.

And I said, yes, that's very true, very descriptive.

But I think what stirred me in this is, I've gone way back into my life and just seen periods where I've had a lot of

self-hatred around stories that I have shame.

But I think currently it really has to do with,

you know, my wife Tana,

as we've moved here to Colorado Springs,

it was a difficult move for her.
