I just need to center myself.

0:19.9

Before we start, I do think it's important for most people watching to know that this show will be quite a bit different from the show, the response video I did on Monday night.

0:32.5

I think even for so many viewers, I was so crashed out.

0:38.0

I used too many metaphors.

0:39.8

I used too much humor.

0:42.1

And I think a lot of the point was lost.

0:45.8

Points that I didn't even have or tried to make until Hiller did his live with Tyler Watkins.

0:51.1

And I want to start this show by emulating someone that I've learned to,

0:56.0

and that is to tell a story in order to paint a picture and to give everyone, I think,

1:02.1

some very meaningful context. When I found CrossFit, my sister had taken me to my first class,

1:10.1

and the workout was deadlifts and rope climbs. It was in Jeff and Maggie Tintcher's gym, CrossFit Fairfax. And it was a crazy workout. I remember this guy, Tyler Costello in the back of the class. I ended up coaching there for years and working out there. And I remember keeping my eye on him the whole class because he was the fit guy there. and this was my first class. And I could tell. 1:45.5

CrossFit's stupid. I'm not going back. A year later, I was trying to get into shape to join the

1:50.8

military. And I came across an Instagram ad for another affiliate. I went there and I tried it.

1:57.4

And for whatever reason, this second attempt, I fell in love.

2:01.9

And I think I fell in love with the fact that it was really hard, the fact that it was always something different.

2:10.3

And there was a really awesome community that just drew me in.

2:14.4

It wasn't until maybe a year later that I became truly obsessed with CrossFit and it became

2:20.8

kind of this integral part of my life and a lifelong passion, so to speak. And that was when I took

2:27.5

my level one. And I realized that CrossFit gave me truth. There was truth, objective, fact-based truth in Greg's definition of

2:41.5

fitness, work capacity across broad time and modal domains. I loved that because it couldn't be

2:47.9

argued. If you can measure this and repeat it and demonstrate it,

2:52.5

it can't be argued. Force times distance over time creates power, which is equal to intensity,
