SCP 9,000, The Trench.

The SCP Foundation's usage of D-Class personnel, generally prisoners and other expendable

individuals, remains one of its more divisive policies.

Testing on anomalous objects is often quite dangerous, and the foundation

has decided that rather than risking their best and brightest for no good reason, they'd rather

risk those that society couldn't care less about. From a cold, unfeeling perspective,

it makes sense, but there have been quite a few articles showcasing the

moral dilemma that the foundation has created for themselves. SCP 9,000 is one of those articles,

presenting a look at the early days of the D-Class program and their original purpose. Of course, it wouldn't be much of an

SCP article if things didn't go horribly awry. Let's take a look.

SCP 9,000 is the collective designation for an extra-dimensional space and the

facility it was built to house, which is Detention Center Tri-1,

a penal complex maintained by the SCP Foundation.

The extra-dimensional space is located within the Marianas Archipelago, off the coast of the

Mogg Islands in the northwestern Pacific Ocean.

The facility was constructed in 1983, in conjunction with the federal government of the US,

under an agreement that it would serve as an extra-legal outlet to hold prisoners of both entities.

To construct this space, hundreds of undersea pleroma-class subsistence shifting nodes

were installed along the sea floor, and only watercraft with specially built navigation consoles

and approved matter signatures are capable of seeing and accessing the space.

The area consists of five layers, four of which are submerged underwater.

The first layer includes a loading dock and on-site housing facilities for Foundation personnel,
