The sci-fi concept of using a time machine to save someone you love is a fairly old one,

with it being the focus of many time travel stories.

Sometimes it works out, but often the time traveler learns an

unfortunate lesson in trying to change the past. The SCP will be looking at today is another

similar time manipulation story, one based around horrible catastrophes that some people wish

desperately were preventable.

Time may be a flat circle, but this one is certainly a big bump in the road.

Let's take a look.

of antithesis, meaning an anomaly that must be used even though that usage prevents its

own containment and the containment of other anomalies.

SCP 5956 is the Risenau Canon, which stands for retro-causely engineered inter-temporal synchronization

of noetic ordinality.

It is a temporal manipulation mechanism that allows for the synchronization

of one's consciousness at two distinct points in time. In other words, it allows someone to

communicate with other versions of oneself, augmenting their own knowledge and experience. It is not known to generate new timelines, and any attempts to alter past events using the device

are virtually certain to cause temporal paradoxes, resulting in catastrophic timeline collapses.
