SCP 4,700, Orkney Rising

Mythology and SCP often coincide, as authors look to various bits of real-world folklore,

and imagine how these elements might function if brought into the modern day and forced to contend with

organizations such as the foundation. This isn't surprising, as mythological elements tend to be

supernatural in some sense, and in a world filled with anomalous phenomena, it makes sense

that some of these things would pass into folklore.

SCP 4700 concerns a specific subsect of folklore belonging to Orkney, a chain of islands

in the northern Isles of Scotland that have long held some tales and beliefs focused around the

water.

It's also a sequel to SCP 3,700, which I covered recently in my more aquatic

SCPs video, although knowledge of that one is not strictly required for this one.

With that said, let's dive in. First off, a little recap of SCP-3700 for those that

missed it. SCP-3700 revolved around two massive aquatic entities that would occasionally manifest in an

area in the North Sea.

When they would manifest, they would fight with one another,

and depending on the victor, different anomalous effects would occur within the area.

If the friendly, large, lobster entity would win,

mostly good things would occur,

such as the cessation of storms and increased crop yields for the next six months.

If the other entity one, resembling a ray-finned fish, generally bad things would occur, such as Category 5 hurricanes,

and it wouldn't de-manifest, but would instead attack anyone in the area. Due to this, the foundation decided to step in and help out the first entity to make sure
