One of the most unique and interesting aspects of the SCP universe is in its narrative flexibility.

One story can feature extensive amounts of cosmic horror or body horror,

while the next could be a comedy or a heart-wrenching tale.

One article could be set in the deepest reaches of space,

while another could take place thousands of years ago.

SCP 3043 was a particularly unique one, as it brought in a very specific theme, that being

film noir, and the character of Murphy Law, a hard-boiled private eye.

What was interesting was that it wasn't just an SCP tale with a noir style, but Murphy is actually a

pataphysical construct that adheres to a noir style, with others in the present day

forced to interact with him in such a manner. In 3043, Murphy managed to take out a hostile

typewriter that could rewrite any physical document within its immediate vicinity, as well as apparently change people's thoughts.

Now, Murphy is back, in his biggest and most dangerous adventure yet.

The article begins with a call log between a member of Site 19's documentation department,

Robinson, and the new site director, O'Leary.

Robinson calls to congratulate O'Leary on his promotion, saying that the department here is rooting for him, and he can't be any more of a pain

than Director August. O'Leary thanks him and says that settling in has been a mess, especially

with the power outage yesterday. Apparently, the security footage for the entire day yesterday,

the sixth, is gone, although Robinson thought

that today was the sixth, chalking it up to having one too many drinks last night.
