Well, hello there it's Antries, and welcome to another episode of the Sabby Painter

podcast.

You know, until I started my own podcast, I had no idea how much work it takes to keep one going.

That's why so many podcasts disappear so quickly.

Did you know that the average podcast lasts less than six months and even when you include mega hits like

NPR Serial or This American Life or one of my favorites on Being. All told, the average podcast gets less than 300 downloads

per episode. Sabby Painter averages more than 7,000 unique downloads.

And there's even some that are 25,000.

Apparently, I'm doing something right.

And look, I know it's not perfect, but I have somehow managed to keep this podcast going for more than four years by myself.

I am no IRA Glass or Terry Gross, but did you know that they have an average of 15 to 20 people working

on each episode? Doing research, coordinating guests, creating graphics, writing scripts, keeping the website up, keeping the technology working,

handling promotions and social media and marketing, and still responding to listeners.

They have a whole team working behind the scenes so that the host can focus

on the interviews. Guess who does all of that for Sabby Painter. I do. It's me, all by myself. It's a lot of work. They also have people who edit the

podcast handle the sound engineering, write the show notes, upload the final episode for

distribution, and upload and publish all of that to all of the

podcast channels and the website so that listeners can just click a button and hear an episode.

I work with an amazing company called Podcast Fast Tracks,

who does all of that for me.

And thank God, because if I didn't have them,

I would be curled up in a little ball
