Summary

This is one of the videos Kerry has made for his Isaiah courses that we are adapting for use in the podcast as Kerry is doing all he can to help everyone get as much out of Isaiah as possible. In this episode, Kerry explores some poetic elements of the Song of the Vineyard in Isaiah 5, and touches on the meaning of judgment in Isaiah, and how the Abrahamic Covenant helps us understand what Isaiah is saying about houses being built close to each other, and what Isaiah is trying to say when he speaks of planting an ephah of grapes, etc.

We are grateful for our sponsor, Lisa Spice, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the podcast.

Hello and welcome to the scriptures are real podcast. This is the podcast where we talk about

0:13.8

elements of the scriptures that have become real to us because we believe that helps us draw more

0:18.2

power out of the scriptures and we need all the power we can get

0:21.1

from those divine instruments. I'm your host, Kerry Mielstein, and this is a special feature

0:26.3

that we're doing as we study Isaiah. I'm really dedicated towards helping everyone not only learn

0:32.1

to understand Isaiah, but I hope learn to love Isaiah. That's the name of my commentary is learning to love Isaiah.

0:39.0

But I just really hope everyone will learn to love Isaiah. And as one of the things that we're doing to

0:44.6

help you with that is I've taken little videos that I've made for my classes. So when I teach the

0:50.8

Isaiah class, there's more than we can cover, even though we're sometimes just covering two chapters a day, that we can only still do about maybe 30% of what I'd like to do.

0:59.6

So I take at least one topic.

1:01.3

In most days of class, I have a little video that the students are supposed to watch that explains some things for them that we just won't have time to do in class.

1:11.2

And I've decided to make those into a feature for everyone on my podcast.

1:17.8

So this introduction will be at the front of each one of those.

1:20.5

And then what you're going to have is the opportunity to watch or listen to.

1:24.6

And sometimes I will make reference to pictures because when I made this,

1:28.3

I wasn't making it for a podcast. And so I didn't have just audio listeners in mind. So I apologize

1:33.3

for that. But I'll have both the video on YouTube and I'll have the audio on my typical podcast.

1:42.1

And I think you'll be all right without the pictures 99% of the time.

1:47.6

But you'll just get what my students get and I'll sometimes say we're going to talk about this in class,

1:52.8

but we won't talk about it in class.

1:54.9

Hopefully those elements will talk about in the regular podcast episodes.

1:58.1

I'll also just say that I'm doing tons of interviews with other people on Isaiah
