I think there's a reason why you tend to get into it as a teenager if you're going to

get into it at all, because I think there is something inherently melodramatic about

the musicals as a form.

Whenever the emotion is too big for dialogue, you sing, and when the emotion is too big

for singing, you dance, and that's sort of like you are just open to it when you're younger,

especially if you're in this sort of irony-saturated sphere, like the 90s were, or today.
