In fact, I look forward to bringing you conversations every single day that hopefully inspire you in your

faith walk, that deepen your understanding of God's word and that heightens your

awareness of his very real presence in your life. Over a decade ago, I walked through a dark night

of the soul. I've been through a number of those seasons before, but this one was especially difficult.

I wasn't depressed, but I felt severely oppressed. Have you ever felt that way? Like having this

weight on me like a lead blanket. And if I'm

honest, there were nights I begged God to take me. I didn't have any thoughts or plans to end my life.

I hope you hear that. But I wanted relief. I was under it. So on one hand, I know it was a spiritual

opportunity. On the other hand, the enemy wasted no time to leverage that opportunity against me.

And so many things.

There was an accumulative sadness, an accumulative despair, loss of perspective.

God seems silent.

I don't know if you've ever been there.

But again, that time left me breathless.

Well, my guest today writes this.

It's unnerving, isn't it? When pain, like an

undercurrent, pulls your faith away from the bright shore of certainty into the deep, into the

darkness, this is disillusionment. This is spiritual pain. And if this seems familiar, know that you

are not alone, and you are not as far away from home as you may feel or may fear. The night is not your

enemy. In fact, the night is necessary. Though faith shines in full sun, it grows depth in the dark.
