Gino Smith is a bridge quarterback, and the Jets are hoping that bridge is two years long.

On today's show, we'll discuss the Jets off-season

additions most likely to succeed and to disappoint. We'll discuss expectations for Aaron Glenn

in the year 2026. But we'll start by talking about Jets quarterback Gino Smith. That's our first

question. John, what does Gino need to do to make his second tenure with the Jets a success?

That's an excellent question.

And if we're being honest, I don't think expectations are super high for Gino.

Now, of course, we're in May.

Everybody's looking forward to the next season with hope.

So I don't want to be the podcaster who brings everybody down.

But if we're being honest, Gino was not

a coveted commodity during the offseason. The Jets were able to acquire him for very cheap. The Jets

were able to trade for Gino. They gave up a sixth and got a seventh along with Gino in return.

That's about as low of a compensation as you can spend to acquire a player in a trade.

And the Jets gave Gino a small salary bump, around $3 million. And even then, it was surprised

Gino, it was surprising Gino got that much. Nobody was really expecting any team to trade anything

for him. And nobody was expecting a team to boost his salary even by a small

amounts and a lot of that goes back to the season he had last year with the Raiders.
