Lately, a lot of my coaching clients and friends have been talking about the expectations

they place on themselves and their businesses and what we've discovered is that we often have really, really high and sometimes

unreachable expectations of ourselves.

And this led to a conversation about if we have those kinds of expectations for ourselves. What kind of expectations do we have with our

loved ones, with our peers, with the people that we socialize with. and it occurred to me from my own experience that I have been primarily living in a world with extraordinarily high expectations of myself

and others.

And I started to experiment with

to replace those expectations with invitations.

So instead of expecting my husband

to take care of something that needs to be addressed for our family,

inviting him to take care of something that needs to be addressed within the family,

instead of expecting a friend to show up the way that I hope that they will,

inviting them to, both energetically and certainly via communication.

And what I've learned through this experiment is that I've lowered my stress levels significantly just by witnessing and becoming aware of my language,

becoming aware of the mental chatter more than anything.

I practice loving kindness as much as I possibly can and have learned quite a bit

from witnessing my own behaviors.
