Those were the words echoed through the minds of Cory Wise and Kevin Richardson.

These two young men had just been found guilty of horrible crimes.

And a little over a month prior, use of Salam, Raymond Santana, and Antroma Kray had also been found guilty.

They were facing five to ten years each of incarceration.

To recap, the five were all headed to prison after trying and failing to prove their innocence.

Media played an active role in misrepresenting them.

Donald Trump even had something to say.

The reality of their circumstance had become all too real.

They were about to enter a world unlike anything they had experienced before.

But there is one person that we're missing.

Someone who often goes undiscussed.

Not technically a part of the five because he didn't get a day in court.

Steven Lopez decided to take the plea deal.

Remember, they were all offered a plea deal, but Steve was the one that decided to take it.

He believed that the odds were stacked against him.
