0:58.7	Yes, we are excited to have Dr. Matthew Gray with us today and he is an associate professor of
1:05.9	ancient scripture and an affiliate faculty member of the ancient Near Eastern Studies program at
1:10.8	BYU. He was born and raised in Chicago, served a full-time mission in the California Santa Rosa
1:18.0	mission and attended BYU where he received a BA in Near Eastern Studies and then received an MA
1:25.6	in archaeology and the history of antiquity from Andrews University, PhD in Mediterranean religions
1:32.6	with a major emphasis on archaeology and history of early Judaism and a minor emphasis on New
1:38.4	Testament studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before being hired by BYU
1:44.7	in the Department of Ancient Scripture. Dr. Gray taught Institute of Religion at the University of
1:49.2	Notre Dame at Oxford and also at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke and since being hired at BYU, he's taught
1:56.8	courses in the New Testament Gospels, second half of the New Testament, Jesus in his Jewish context
2:02.6	and the archaeology of New Testament Palestine. For almost 20 years, he's been actively involved in
2:07.6	archaeological research and publication relating to the world of the Bible in Israel, Jordan and Italy
2:12.7	and since 2011, has supervised excavations in the Roman era village in Synagogue at Hukkok in
