Verse 17. Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying,

You shall also make a labor of bronze, with its base also of bronze for washing.

You shall put it between the tabernacle of testimony and the altar.

You shall put water in it.

So this is between the altar of burnt offering, right, that's outside in the courtyard,

right, and the tent that is the tabernacle proper.

In between the two, there is this bronze, basically a, like a giant bowl that's kept full of water.

That's what it's described.

For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and feet with water from it.

When they go into the tabernacle of testimony, they shall wash with water lest they die.

But when they come near the altar to minister and to offer wholeborn offerings to the Lord.

So they shall wash their hands and feet with water when they go into the tabernacle of testimony lest they die.

It shall be an ordinance forever to them for him and his genealogy after him.

This is a physical object that's there to hold the water.

Right.

That's why you notice we don't get a ton of description of it.

We've gotten a lot more detailed description of a lot of the other things.

This is purely a practical thing, right?

It's there to hold water, right, so that they can wash before they go in to present themselves to God
