When last you trekked with us through the wilderness in the Bible book club in Exodus,

here's where we were. The Israelites were facing tests, several. So there was another water test,

and they were cranky, those whiny babies. They came close to stoning Moses, and then they had a battle

with the Amalekites. Moses was battling fatigue. It was the fatigue of holding his arms up during

that battle with the Amalekites. Fortunately,

he had a few friends to help him get through it, but it was also fatigued from having to serve as

judge over so many people. And fortunately, he had wisdom of a wise man, his father-in-law,

to help him get through that. Then Jethro made one last appearance praising God for what he had done for Israel, and he gave

Moses some timely advice about delegating his responsibility.

Right.

So in this episode, we are turning a major page in Exodus because we are entering into the

second part of Exodus.

If you'll remember, we talked about in the very beginning that the structure of Exodus only has two parts.

Chapters 1 through 18 are the Exodus from Egypt, which we have successfully completed.

Chapters 19 through 40 are the covenant at Mount Sinai.

So remember, that was a big Bible bender to some of us.

That actually they're not going to be, they're not going to be in the desert, like roaming the desert in Exodus.

They are just going to be camped out in that mountain. Now, the theme, just for a refresher, is this.
