Summary

You’ve seen the Hollywood version of the Red Sea parting, but do you know the spiritual reason God led Israel into a dead end? Sometimes the "wrong direction" in the eyes of the world is the only way to see the "salvation of the Lord." Summary: In this deep dive into Exodus 14–18, we follow Israel out of Egypt and into the refining fires of the wilderness. We explore how Jehovah transforms a group of former slaves into a covenant people through trials of hunger, thirst, and war. The Red Sea Crossing: We analyze why God told Israel to "stand still" and see His power, and how the cloud that gave light to Israel was darkness to the Egyptians. 0:41.2	and I'm thrilled to dive back into the story of Exodus. In fact, dive might be the best word
0:45.6	for the day since we will be jumping into the Red Sea. One of the great moments of scriptural
0:50.5	history, or even of cinematic history now that I think of it. The old 1950s Ten Commandments movie from Cecil B. DeMille, that was, I mean, the day's
0:59.3	pre-CGI, that was some incredible special effects. Party in the Red Sea. You just picture
1:04.5	audiences aghast. Like, how did they do that? Well, when the Lord did it, it wasn't special
1:10.1	effects. Okay. It was, it was a god of miracles.
1:14.7	The god of the plagues now became the god of the parted waters. And allowing Israel to move forward,
1:21.5	I mean, there's such great symbolism within the Red Sea that here's this boundary separating your past from your future.
1:29.8	Will you be able to cross it?
1:32.0	Will you be trapped in your old life and never fully be able to be free of it?
1:38.6	Or will God somehow open a miraculous way of escape so that you can be fully delivered by him and be able
1:48.0	to march forward with faith toward your land of promise.
1:52.0	There's incredible things about the story that we're going to be studying today.
1:56.0	So if we can get past Charlton Heston, which made a great moment, Moses, I'll admit. In fact, I sometimes wonder,
