I'm Rebecca Lervoy, a journalist in podcaster in New Hampshire, and I am Mom to Henry who is 16, Teddy who is 15, and my stepdaughter

Lily who is 17. And I'm Carvel Wallace, a writer and podcaster in Oakland, California,

and I am the father to Georgia, who was 12, and Ezra who was 15. Now Gabe is still sick this week which I feel

terrible about but we do wish him our best to feel better Gabe and it's just

going to be me in Carvel holding down the fort this week. Today we'll be discussing a question

from the Slate Parenting Group on Facebook about manipulative ex-husbands and a listener

sent us a voice memo to ask us what to do about a screaming kid when you've got depression, anxiety,

and another kid on the way. But first, let's talk about the week's triumphs and fails.

I, um, this weekend, I, uh, there was so Joe and lives by the lake like Merritt which is this like place the central place in Oakland that everyone hangs out at especially when the weather

changes. So I was on my way over there on Sunday and some of you may know that this that

a story that began at Lake Merritt a couple of weeks ago has gone viral, which is that this white woman tried to call the police on a few folks who were barbecuing on a Sunday morning.

And first she said it's because you're using charcoal, you're not supposed to use charcoal here, and she was going to call the

police because they were using charcoal. And then as the video unfolded, she then was like,

well, I feel threatened by you being here, and the police were like yeah I don't think

anything's wrong they didn't even come down and then this woman unfortunately became
