Hey, deserve a listener. Today we have a very special guest with us, Dr. Kirk Snyder. I've been

0:05.4

reading his various publications since I entered the field in the mid 90s. He has published various

0:11.9

books and journal articles over the years, very prolific writer. He, if you don't know, he's a

0:18.3

highly renowned person figure in the field of existential therapy and psychology, but also in the field

0:24.8

in general. I would be surprised if anyone being trained as a therapist in the last 20, 30 years

0:31.6

doesn't know about Dr. Kirk Snyder. Also, in my opinion, he has a brilliant mind, a very

0:37.1

intelligent individual, very interesting person. And also, I find the stuff that I know about Dr. Kirk's,

0:44.8

I've never met him before until today, which I'm quite honored, but I also find you, Dr. Kirk Snyder,

0:50.6

to be a kind soul as well. I could see you being a natural therapist for people. So welcome to

0:56.7

the podcast, Dr. Kirk Snyder. Thank you so much, Kirk. Dr. Honda, I'm very honored to be here with you.

1:04.9

It's great to meet another Kirk, you know. It's not often that I get to meet other Kirk. It's

1:09.6

true. This is one joke and it's a special moment. Okay, so let's get into your book, which I have a

1:18.3

copy here, your newest book. Have you published what, like 30 books? No, more like 14. 14, okay. It's

1:29.3

a very easy read. If you don't know much about existential therapy, it will confuse you kind of,

1:36.9

but there's a lot, there's nothing here that's easy enough for people to understand. It's broken

1:42.8

up into short chapters. I like books that are like that. It makes it easy to read. So I like that

1:50.7

format. But I want to get into some of the things that you talk about in this book. The first

1:54.8

thing I want to talk about, often when people talk about existential therapy or your work, they will

2:00.5

summarize it in this very reductive way. There will be this extremely brief bullet point list of,

2:06.6

like, you know, anxiety and responsibility and, you know, these kinds of things, not only of your

2:11.4

work, but of existential therapists in general, psychologists in general. So I'm really looking

2:16.1

forward to talking with you because I've always wanted to know, how does this work in the mind of
