Summary

In a special edition of the Hank Unplugged podcast, Hank Hanegraaff offers an exclusive preview of his new book, Truth Matters, Life Matters More. https://www.equip.org/product/cri-resource-cri1909wa/ Essentially, Truth Matters, Life Matters More is two books in one. Because truth matters, part one memorably equips readers in the essential truth of the Christian faith. In part two Hank explains why life matters more and how we can experience the height of human existence—union with God. Simply put, the map is not the territory. The menu is not the meal. We cheat ourselves of authentic union with Christ when we elevate the message above the Messenger. Hanegraaff earnestly believes that Truth Matters, Life Matters More is his magnum opus and the crowning achievement of over 3 decades in ministry. Well, today is a little different because today I bring you myself.

0:41.7

Well, not really myself.

0:43.9

What I'm bringing to you is a promo, as it were, on my magnum opus.

0:51.0

My book, Truth Matters, Life Matters More. It's subtitled the unexpected beauty

0:59.3

of an authentic Christian life, and there's a reason for that. I personally discovered the beauty

1:07.7

in an unexpected way of an authentic Christian life.

1:13.7

For those of you who have followed my ministry, I for so many years have debated truth,

1:22.8

defined truth, defended truth.

1:27.0

And this is critically important in a post-truth culture. But in this book,

1:32.7

I wanted to talk to you about my discovery of life. But the more I thought about putting a book

1:39.5

like this together, the more I became, well, chastened in my spirit that I couldn't just tip my hat to truth.

1:49.9

I couldn't just make a gesture to 30, 40, even more years of ministry in the arena of truth.

2:06.1

And so I decided that I would write two books in one.

2:16.5

The first book dealing with truth. And the first part of this book, therefore, deals with the subject of truth matters. In fact, truth really, really

2:23.6

matters. As I said, we live in a post-truth culture, and there's nothing more important

2:30.2

than for you as a believer to always be ready to give an answer a reason for the hope that lies

2:36.9

within you with gentleness and with respect. It's also critical for you to be able to read the

2:44.7

Bible for all its worth because so much of the disdain for the Bible in our modern epoch of time comes as a direct result of people misinterpreting the words of Scripture.

3:00.1

They simply don't know how to read it.
