As you may know, America was born on July 4th, 1776.

Heck, my dad's iPhone passcode 1776 but in order to

comprehend why that date is so important to him and to you and me we need to

understand what led up to it. Now before there were 50 United States there were

13 British colonies controlled by Great Britain and they're not so nice king, named George III.

Since King George and the British Parliament were in control of this North American land,

it meant that they made all the rules for the colonists who lived there.

The American colonists included a few guys that you may have heard of before.

George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, to name a few.

Sound familiar? Well, the American colonists were all subjected to the crazy rules enforced by King George.

Who didn't even live on the land? And one of those rules was putting a super high tax on just about everything.

Taxes are fees that people have to pay the government so that it can afford the cost of things,

that benefit the community where the taxpayers live.

Now, ideally, the government would go crazy and start demanding more money than they need to provide for the community.

But the colonists soon discovered that old King George didn't get the memo about fairness.
