0:12.4

the voice as you get ready for this big moment. Any prep work?

0:18.0

I'm not a whole lot of voice prep. I just want to make sure that I'm feeling good and I guess

0:24.8

a lot of water, you know, try to keep myself hydrated. But it's mostly the most of the prep work is

0:33.6

is the memorization of the horses and all that stuff. But as far as voice goes, just kind of hope for

0:40.3

the best. You know, a lot of us grow up wanting to be something, you know, whatever it is an

0:47.0

athlete, a musician. At what point did you say I want to be an announcer, horse racing announcer?

0:55.7

It was very early. Probably was about 14, 15 years old. When I first got interested in horse racing,

track and answers. And one day decided to try to do it for for real and got a set of binoculars

1:22.1

of tape recorder and just started practicing calling races. And when I was 18 years old, the

1:26.9

general manager at Pimlico, Chick Lang, heard me and said, Hey, you want to call one race a day

1:31.6

over the mic? And that's how it started. How nervous? Binoculars shaking like crazy. I do remember

1:40.6

the horse that won that first race. Tiara's flame was the name of the horse. I don't remember much

1:46.1

else other than the fact that it was so glad when it was over. When you say that you do impersonations,

1:52.0

what are the different sounds that you have with the the announcers? Well, you you have different

1:58.1

guys like Trevor Denman who used to call it the races and Sanidad and Elkhause and Delmar's

2:03.9

field sent on that way in the Santanita handicap and they broken a perfect line. So, but you know,

2:10.3

you get different guys like Dave Johnson's got them the stretch they come and you know,

2:15.3

excited about that. But you know, you would listen to the different guys and like, I love this.
