Hey, everybody. This week is a little bit different for Giants Talk. I am on assignment, as the

broadcasters would say, but Cole is going to have a good episode on Thursday, and we'll be back to

normal next week when the Giants return home. Today's episode is a very fun one, though.

Laura Britt and I sat down with Casey Schmidt to talk about his incredible first couple weeks.

He seems to pick up two hits every single day. His relationship with Brandon Crawford and those 94 mile per hour throws.

He didn't mention this on the podcast, but he once kind of pulled an Otani in the Cape Cod League.

He had two homers and then moved over to the mound in the ninth inning and finished off a championship.

So he has a pretty good background on the mound.

And you're kind of seeing that when he's at third base and it shortstop.

But Schmidt is now not alone.

Patrick Bailey and Ryan Walker arrived on Friday.

The top two picks from 2020 are now in the big leagues. The obvious

question is what does that mean for Kyle Harrison, who is also part of that draft. How soon will he be

here? But for now, Bailey's here and, you know, kind of showing some early staying power, I think,

what we saw over the weekend. They don't view this as just like a fill in, just a Joey Bart's hurt.

Let's have a guy come up for 10 days or 12 days, two weeks, whatever it ends up being.

They really, really, really like him. He impressed a lot of people in camp. He is more mature

physically. I think he has kind of a different mindset since becoming a father last year.

That's one thing a lot of Giants people have said.

And, you know, there were people who left camp this year thinking he was their best
