If you look at Welsh urban geography, it's on a so much more colonial pattern than Scottish.

It's like Irish geography.

You know, you look at a map of Ireland's urban areas, and they're all about a load of ports that are linked either to Britain or to the Atlantic that get people and goods out of Ireland.

And you look at Scottish geography and actually everything's centred on a central belt that's not actually

that close to England, particularly not the western part of it, and Scotland revolves around that.

Whereas Wales, you look at its geography and it's exactly the same as Ireland. The big city

supports to extract raw materials from the interior and get them around the world and get them

into England. You can't really travel conveniently at any rate on the train system from North to South Wales.

I think it might come down to Wales actually being a more genuinely colonial part of the UK

than Scotland is.

And that's why it was still much more easy to ridicule people there.
