Certainly nothing could top the news of a day earlier, but there were plenty of interesting aspects about the 49ers' decisions on their initial 53 man roster that came on cut-down day around the NFL.

Rookie Brock Purdy played well enough to force the 49ers to keep a third

quarterback behind Trey Lance and yes backup Jimmy Garopolo. Purdy beat out veteran

Nate saidfeld for a job.

The team went heavy on running backs with Trey Sermon and an undrafted rookie both making the club.

Those were just a few of the interesting decisions,

49ers have made their initial moves to their 53 man roster. Nothing like

earth shattering important like the emergency podcast we dropped on Monday. But still, kind of interesting is the 40-nighters made some roster cuts, some

players waived, some players released, the difference is a player who's released can immediately sign with another

team a player who's waived which means four years or less experienced in the league has to

kind of wait for the waiver process to go through and will be assigned teams based on if any team claims them.

Yeah, it didn't seem like there were too many surprises. I would think that some of these guys that did get released will end up back on the foreigners practice squad. I really like that that's 16 guys now as opposed to what it was previously. So they do have some flexibility there

and bringing guys back. And the foreigners get a 17th, right? With Alfredo Gutierrez,
