When I was 22, I made the New York Giants because 28-year-old Bill Belichick was the special teams coach. Was he really? Wow. And took a liking to the, he knew I could back up both safeties and be a core special teams guy. So that's how I made it. my my one of my big beliefs with coaches is that you have to be great teachers.

Because it's not about what you have in your head.

It's what you can get to your players to understand and convey.

And my dad was a really good high school coach.

And when I met Belichick, again, he's 28.

He's coaching the inside linebackers and the special teams.

And I called my dad. I called my dad about the second or third day. I was like, Dad, there's this dude who's barely older than me, who looks like he's 11.

And I can't believe how good a teacher he is. If I have a problem with a special team a question about any position on defense I ask him because he explains it to me and I get it

and I literally got in a fight I want to say the first or second day of practice and I'm not

going to say it was on purpose, but it was on purpose.

I was a nobody. I needed to make a, you know, they had over 100 guys in camp back in the day and just kind of had to kind of figure something out.

I was a 10th round pick of the Steelers the year before. So I got in a fight on a punt and it turned into a melee, which those camp things do.
