Summary

Former MLB pitcher Dan Serafini has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2021 murder of his father-in-law Gary Spohr and the attempted murder of his mother-in-law Wendy Wood at their Lake Tahoe home. Prosecutors argued Serafini carried out the attack with help from his secret lover, the family’s former nanny, in a case built largely on circumstantial evidence that ended with a guilty verdict in 2025 and sentencing in February 2026.

Current Affairs is Love Murder’s shorter show about the cases of love gone fatally wrong that are in the news right now.

Yeah, we'd be remiss not to mention the bar rescue episode, too.

He was also a failed bar owner. I guess that's included in the bad investments.

who was 68, had built a $23 million real estate fortune through their own hard work. The couple

bankrolled nearly everything for Aaron and Dan, homes, cars, IVF treatments, school tuition, and over a million

dollars for their horse farm, I guess. They gave them roughly $2.5 million over five years.

After the grandchildren left, the intruder shot Gary Spore once in the back of the head, killing him instantly, then shot Windy Wood twice in the head and once in the wrist.
