In 1979, the 24-year-old Dutch photographer Anton Corbin talked his way into a Joy Division shoot in a London Underground Tunnel by claiming an assignment

he did not have. The band turned their backs to the camera and no magazine wanted the picture

that Corbyn took. Within a year, Ian Curtis was dead and the photograph has become one of the

most defining images of post-punk. Corbin has developed a career as one of the world's

best-known music photographers, capturing artists like U2, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bowie, Captain

Beefhard, and nearly every major name to make its way into pop music consciousness.

I spoke with him before the opening of his new career retrospective at Photographieska

Gallery and Berlin, which spans five decades of his work.

We talked about some of his most iconic photographs, as well as his longtime collaboration

with Depeche Mode.

He has dictated the look and feel of music videos, stage design, album covers, and more

for over 40 years. We also chatted about the age of filters and AI and his new feature film,

Switzerland, which will land in theaters later this year. Thanks so much for joining me. Next up,
